“The Most Unprecedented Rapper in Asia, Dwagie"

Dwagie’s status in Asian hip-hop is nothing short of legendary. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

As a founding member of the first rap group to ever land a record deal, he blazed a trail for generations of artists to follow. His music continues to break boundaries, with his most recent album sweeping multiple awards and cementing his place as one of the most influential voices in the game.

But Dwagie’s influence goes far beyond Asia. 🌍 International outlets like TIME Magazine, CNN, BBC, Reuters, The Times (UK), Al Jazeera, and Discovery Channel have all covered his story, hailing him as a true cultural icon.

And he doesn’t just collaborate with fellow artists — even NBA superstar Derrick Rose of the Chicago Bulls made a surprise cameo appearance for Dwagie, proving that his reach crosses borders, genres, and industries.

From the streets of Taiwan to the world stage, Dwagie continues to electrify fans with his music, his message, and his unstoppable energy. 🎤⚡

Dwagie’s influence extends beyond music into the world of sports

In January 2017, he performed at the NBA Taiwanese Heritage Night with the Brooklyn Nets at Barclays Center. More recently, in May 2024, he took the stage at MLB’s Oakland A’s SF Taiwan Day, where NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang also threw the ceremonial first pitch. These appearances reflect his mission to share his love for Taiwan with the world and bring greater recognition to his homeland. As Dwagie puts it: “I love hip hop, I love basketball and baseball, and of course I love my country Taiwan. This is a dream come true.”

Collaborations

Dwagie visited The Dalai Lama in Dharamsala and asked for his wisdom in 2013 and 2019. <People> and <Peace?> are the fruits of the trips.

“I often tell people, you should think about what is right or wrong. When you think this is the right thing to do, even when you can’t do it all, can only do a part of it, that is achievement. You should keep doing it, and should not worry about completing the work within your life time. We should try our best, try to make contribution...and start now!” – The Dalai Lama

In 2014, Dwagie collaborated with DJ Premier and Nas and released 2 tracks “Classic” and “Refuse to Listen,” respectively. In 2015, the collaboration extends to street poet Talib Kweli, featuring in the song “Endless Cycle,” and with the legendary Wu Tang for the song “Clown.”

In October 2014, Dwagie was invited to perform at the CMJ Music Marathon in New York City. The Village Voice titled the interview Meet the Only Rapper on Earth Who’s Collaborated With Nas and the Dalai Lama.” Music Mic described Dwagie “is conscious rap at its most fully realized, a meteor from well outside the rap scene that could well remind American rap of what it’s meant to be doing in our country.”

Dwagie has attracted various media coverages, from Hype Magazine, Hip Hop Dx, to MTV Iggy. In a closing summary of a feature article wrote “There are MCs abroad that are closer to the hip-hop ideal than most American rappers. Dwagie is one of the brightest examples. American hip-hop can learn a lot from Dwagie — if it takes the time to listen.”

Although some might consider Dwagie’s appearance to be intimidating, he is able to temper that image with acts of kindness

and compassion. Dwagie understands that hip-hop, in its purest form, reflects life, and that as much as life is about chasing your dreams and making them a reality, it is also about giving back. In that spirit, he has produced multiple tracks and held many concerts to promote and support such charitable causes as the victims of Typhoon Moracot and the Fukushima Earthquake as well as orphanages and shelters for homeless animals.

Dwagie is a vocal enthusiast of historical, social, political and human rights issues. To pursue his Hip-Hop dream, Dwagie launched his own studio “Kung Fu Rap” in 2003, and has been responsible for every single aspect of his albums, from writing and recording tracks to directing, filming, and editing music videos, all entirely on his own.

In January 2016, Dwagie took another step in expanding the range of his collaboration by releasing a song "One Day” featuring the later elected president of Taiwan, Ing-Wen Tsai.

In 2016, Dwagie worked with the east coast legendary Mobb Deep, producing “Mansion n Security.” This is also the legendary

Prodidy’s last featured song did before he passed away. The following year, Dwagie took a bold step by releasing a song “Words to Trump" featuring Raekwon from Wu Tang. The duo rap about the changes they hopes to see from their different perspectives. This song further solidifies his mission to influence the world through his lyrics.

In November 2017, Nike celebrated 35 years of Air Force 1. Dwagie was invited to take part in the making of the designated song “Walk ‘til Fly” featuring 7 renown Taiwanese hip-hop artists. His performance in the finale signifies his foundational status in Asia. The music video has nearly 9 million views and counting.

In 2018, Dwagie was appointed as the chief music director at Hip Hop Palace, a cross Hip-Hop and monument event held at the 6th most globally visited art museum – The National Palace Museum, Taiwan. The clothes were tailor-designed by Daniel Wong, the Print designer for Versace, Lady Gaga, and with appearances in Milan and Paris fashion week.
