Sparknify Selects San Francisco’s Delancey Street Screening Room for the 2026 Human vs. AI Film Premiere

The 2026 Sparknify Human vs. AI Film Festival will premiere on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at the Delancey Street Screening Room, located at 600 The Embarcadero in San Francisco.

The premiere will bring together filmmakers, AI creators, technologists, artists, investors, startup founders, and film lovers for an event centered on one of the most important creative questions of our time: as artificial intelligence becomes a new tool for storytelling, what remains uniquely human in cinema?

The Delancey Street Screening Room was selected not only for its cinematic setting, but also for the deeper story behind the venue. Located inside the Delancey Street Foundation’s landmark Embarcadero complex, the screening room is part of one of San Francisco’s most extraordinary social enterprises. The Delancey Street Foundation was founded around the belief that people can rebuild their lives through work, education, accountability, responsibility, and community.

Its Embarcadero complex is more than a building. It is a symbol of reinvention. The site was built in large part by Delancey Street residents themselves, many of whom were rebuilding their lives while learning trades, taking on responsibility, and helping create a permanent home for the community. The result is a landmark on the San Francisco waterfront that represents transformation, resilience, and the possibility of a second future.

That mission makes the Delancey Street Screening Room a fitting home for the Sparknify Human vs. AI Film Premiere.

“Human vs. AI is not just a technology conversation. It is a humanity conversation,” said Chanel Chan, Sparknify Film Festival Director. “Delancey Street represents the belief that people can transform themselves, rebuild their lives, and create something meaningful together. That spirit connects deeply with our festival. We are asking how technology changes storytelling, but we are also asking what emotion, memory, struggle, hope, and human experience still mean in the age of AI.”

The 2026 Sparknify Human vs. AI Film Festival will showcase nominated short films created through both traditional filmmaking and AI-assisted or AI-generated methods. Rather than positioning one form as superior to the other, the festival creates a space for comparison, experimentation, and reflection. The goal is to explore whether AI-generated cinema can create emotional resonance, whether traditional filmmaking still carries a distinct human advantage, and how the two forms may evolve together.

The September 26 premiere will include:

Premiere Screenings of the 2026 Nominated Films

Selected films will be presented to a live audience in San Francisco, giving attendees an early look at some of the most compelling works in the Human vs. AI Film Festival lineup.

Panel Discussions on the Future of Cinematography and Storytelling

Filmmakers, artists, technologists, and industry voices will discuss how AI is changing cinematography, editing, visual language, performance, production workflows, and the emotional grammar of cinema.

Product Presentations from Cutting-Edge Technology Startups

The evening will also highlight emerging startups building tools that may shape the future of media, creativity, production, and human-machine collaboration.

Festive Networking Atmosphere

Guests will have the opportunity to meet filmmakers, AI creators, startup founders, investors, creative professionals, and members of the Sparknify community.

2026 Sparknify Humanity Award Ceremony

The evening will culminate with the awards ceremony, honoring the 2026 Sparknify Humanity Award recipient as well as winners in the festival’s emotion-based categories.

The Sparknify Humanity Award recognizes the film that best captures the essence of humanity, regardless of whether it was made by filmmakers using traditional equipment and methodologies, or AI generated. The award reflects the festival’s core belief that the central question is not simply who or what made the film, but whether the final work can move people, reveal truth, and best trigger human emotional response.

By choosing the Delancey Street Screening Room, Sparknify is placing the 2026 premiere inside a venue whose own history reflects the themes at the heart of the festival: reinvention, dignity, collaboration, resilience, and the power of people to build something larger than themselves.

“Cinema has always been about transformation,” Chan added. “A character changes. A world changes. An audience changes. Delancey Street is a real-world story of transformation, built into the walls of the venue itself. That is why this premiere belongs there.”
