The Grand Jury of Academics
Stewarding the Future of Cinema
As a distinguished member of the filmmaking academic community, you have been privately invited to join the vanguard of cinematic evolution. The Sparknify Human vs. AI Film Festival is a groundbreaking exploration into the soul of storytelling, serving as both a creative compass for traditional filmmakers and a real-world "Turing Test" for AI-generated cinema. Unlike traditional festivals defined by genre, our structure focuses on raw emotional resonance. Every submission is anchored in one of seven core human emotions: Joy, Rage, Sorrow, Contentment, Love, Aversion, or Desire. Our audience and jury will confront a vital question: "How was this made?" matters less than "Did it move you?"
Why Your Expertise is Critical
Evaluating the intersection of human artistry and AI requires an exceptional, impartial standard of critique. Because filmmaking academia stands at the forefront of cinematic theory, we are exclusively inviting distinguished global faculty to form our final Grand Jury. In this prestigious role, your rigorous discernment will ensure an unbiased evaluation of emotional mastery, directly determining the winner of The Sparknify Humanity Award.
How the Judging Process Works
In early September 2026, you will receive secure access to judge up 14 short films: two per core emotion. Each pair matches a human-directed film nominated by traditional cinematography leaders against an AI-generated film nominated by tech industry pioneers. To ensure absolute impartiality, this is a completely blind evaluation. Without knowing how each entry was created, your task is to judge them solely on how effectively they represent or trigger viewer's emotion. Maximum length of each film is 30 minutes, so total commitment should be about 1 to 3 hours.
