Last April, we introduced MetaRosetta and explored one of the most fascinating developments in modern optics: metalenses. Instead of relying on stacks of curved glass, these microscopic optical structures manipulate light using nanoscale patterns manufactured with semiconductor processes. It was a glimpse into how optics itself could be reinvented. But the story did not end there.

AI Is Escaping the Screen


For the past few years, artificial intelligence has mostly lived inside our computers.


We ask questions. It answers.

We upload documents. It summarizes.

We generate images, videos, presentations, software, and music.


But AI is rapidly leaving the screen. It is climbing into cars. Walking through factories. Inspecting semiconductor wafers. Assisting surgeons. Flying drones. Monitoring crops. Delivering packages. Guiding warehouse robots. Helping visually impaired people navigate city streets.

This is where MetaRosetta’s story becomes much more interesting than simply replacing one type of lens with another. Rather than asking, “How do we build a better lens?” The company asked something different.


What if we manufactured optics the same way we manufacture semiconductors?


That question changes everything. Instead of polishing curved glass, MetaRosetta fabricates microscopic structures capable of manipulating light directly on flat surfaces using semiconductor-compatible manufacturing. The result is not simply a thinner optical component.


It opens the possibility of producing precision optics using the same industrial ecosystem that already manufactures billions of semiconductor devices every year. Taiwan happens to be the world’s center of that ecosystem.
