The Grand Jury of Cinema
Guardians of Cinematic Excellence

As a distinguished voice in the world of cinema, you have been privately invited to join The Grand Jury of Cinema at the Sparknify Human vs. AI Film Festival. This jury brings together experienced film festival judges, critics, programmers, producers, industry professionals, and other respected members of the global film community to recognize excellence in human filmmaking.

The Sparknify Human vs. AI Film Festival is a groundbreaking exploration of storytelling in an era when artificial intelligence can increasingly create moving images, performances, and entire films. Unlike traditional festivals organized primarily around genre, our competition is structured around eight fundamental human emotions: Joy, Sorrow, Intensity, Serenity, Love, Hate, Desire, and Disgust. At the center of the festival is a simple question: What makes a film truly move us?

Why Your Expertise is Critical

As AI enters the filmmaking process, establishing a strong benchmark for human cinema has never been more important. The Grand Jury of Cinema represents the experience, judgment, and standards developed through generations of filmmaking and film criticism.

Members of this jury will evaluate only films created by human filmmakers. Your role is to identify the strongest human film within each emotional category based on storytelling, direction, performance, visual language, originality, emotional impact, and overall cinematic excellence. The films selected by the Grand Jury of Cinema will become the official human representatives of the festival. They will advance to the final stage, where they will ultimately be presented alongside films selected by our AI expert jury.

How the Judging Process Works

You will receive secure online access to a curated selection of eligible human made short films. Each film will be assigned to one of the festival's eight emotional categories.

Your task is to evaluate the films independently and determine which works most successfully combine cinematic craftsmanship with emotional impact. The highest rated films from the Grand Jury of Cinema will advance as the official human selections representing their respective emotions.

Your evaluation will therefore establish the human standard against which the festival's AI generated films will ultimately be compared.

From Jury Selection to the Big Screen

Selected films will be presented at the 2026 Human vs. AI Film Premiere on September 26, 2026, at the Delancey Street Screening Room, 600 The Embarcadero in San Francisco.

The premiere will feature four screening sessions: Joy & Sorrow, Intensity & Serenity, Love & Hate, and Desire & Disgust. Human and AI films will be presented to the audience as part of a unique cinematic experiment exploring whether technology can match the storytelling and emotional power of human filmmakers.

Members of the Grand Jury of Cinema will also be recognized by the festival for their contribution to maintaining the standards of cinematic excellence during this pivotal moment in the evolution of filmmaking.
